La musique a toujours fait partie de la vie de Carlos de Nicaragua. Depuis son lieu de naissance en Amérique Centrale aux banlieues parisiennes en passant par les Caraïbes, Cuba, l?Afrique et leurs influences, il a développé, au cours des 25 dernières années du XXème siècle, un son tout à fait unique.
Carlos de Nicaragua y Familia sont aujourd?hui prêt à reconquérir l?Europe.
Avec leur nouvel album, Militante, ils se lancent dans une tournée de dix dates en Allemagne et en République Tchèque et ont développé un nouveau site Internet.
Carlos de Nicaragua, né Carlos Wiltshire sur la côte Atlantique du pays dont il a pris le nom, est un acteur majeur de la scène des sound systems parisiens depuis qu?il est arrivé en Europe au début des années 80.
Sur la base d?un mix unique de salsa et de reggae distillé dans les banlieues de la capitale française, Carlos et son groupe ont lancé un mini album, nommé Mayombe et chanté en espagnol, album qui remonte à 1984.
Il a ensuite travaillé avec Manu Chao, pour lequel il a coécrit la chanson ?El Alakran, et a participé à la première tournée de Radio Bemba Sound System contribuant ainsi à répandre le reggae-latin dans tout le continent et à devenir le son hybride très populaire qu?il est aujourd?hui.
Après avoir appris et travaillé avec les plus grands, et influencé par des légendes comme Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix et Carlos Santana, il a créé son propre groupe, baptisé sa « Familia », avec qui il joue maintenant depuis dix ans.
Carlos and the Familia ont publié un album nommé d?après le cri de guerre préféré de Carlos : « Escuche Familia ». Certaines de leurs chansons ont figuré dans des compilations prestigieuses du reggae européen. Ils ont joué dans les plus grands festivals et sur les plus grandes scènes du continent.
Carlos est désormais prêt à produire un album complet : « Militante », qui mélange le reggae, la musique latine et même le rock & roll. Mais quel que soit le style, ce disque vous fera vibrer.
Ce disque va sûrement faire vibrer les têtes dans toute l?Europe et dans le monde entier. Le morceau titre, qui fait référence à ses héros du monde musical et au-delà, est un appel aux armes pour tous ceux qui pensent que la musique est synonyme de liberté.
« Militante » est un sentiment, tout comme Carlos lui-même, un sentiment qu?il transmet à son public. Il exprime la douleur et les problèmes du monde, mais sous la forme la plus joyeuse possible.
