Background:
Born in Rome, Italy, in 1959, Laura Cafiero has 20 years of experience in the fields of cinema, television, documentaries and advertising.
She spent five years at Filmalpha-Rome in the production and organisation of TV movies, series and features such as Albert Negrin's USA TV Award-winning L'ACHILLE LAURO, Maroun Bagdadi's HORS LA VIE, which received a Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and Felice Farina's David di Donatello-winning CONDOMINIO.
In 1990, she was appointed president of Immagininazione and executive produced Luigi Perelli's feature 18 ANNI FRA UNA SETTIMANA which was co-produced with RCS and RAI 2.
Then, in 1992, she founded the production company Metafilm which has been a producer or co-producer of several award-winning feature films, documentaries and TV productions. These have included Franco Piavoli's VOICES IN TIME (VOCI NEL TEMPO) (1995/96) which was nominated for a David di Donatello in 1997, Antonietta De Lillo's videoportrait of Zezi VIENTO E'TERRA which won the first award at the "Bilan du film ethnographique 1997" in Paris, Gianluca Fumagalli's MORE OR LESS (QUASI QUASI) and Piavoli's 2002 Locarno competition film AT THE FIRST BREATH OF WIND (AL PRIMO SOFFIO DI VENTO).
In addition, Laura participated in the EAVE producers training programme in 1992 and handled the executive production for the Italian shoot of Jeroen Krabbé's feature film THE DISCOVERY OF HEAVEN in 2000.
Her latest production, YOU MUST BE THE WOLF (TU DEVI ESSERE IL LUPO) by Vittorio Moroni, is set to be delivered this month and she is in post-production on Vittorio De Seta's LETTERS FROM SAHARA (LETTERE DAL SAHARA). Another feature - Francesca Garcea's THE WOLF (U LUPU) - is in pre-production and scheduled to start shooting this September.
