While most of the people in Lilongwe spent their weekend partying, shopping, watching movies or taking rest at home, urban musicians came together at a concert to raise money and collect relief items to assist victims in flood-hit districts including Nsanje, Chikwawa and Mulanje.

The concert organized by musicians themselves with help from the Flood Church, saw performances from various artistes including RoyView, PeterMo, LovC, Rebirth, Cosby Ngumuya, Nyali Music and Janta among others. Also in attendance was Sally Nyundo and female emcee Aycee James who came all the way from Blantyre for the concert.

Gwamba who was also one of the main organizers of the concert rapped alongside Martse, Krazie-G, and producer AK on the prominent ‘Zimuvuta’ track in additional to their personal sets.

Phyzix took the stage by surprise and dropped an amazing performance with Janta before calling in Mwanache and Tay Grin on the ‘Zolapitsa remix’.

Rapper Tay Grin who was among the closing sets, gave his set his best, and people went nuts with his performance.

The show raised a total of MK100, 000 in gates and cash donations, people also donated assorted items including beddings and clothes. The earnings were given to Pastor Sean of Flood Church who then wrote a cheque to the Department of Disaster Management.

Speaking to Zodiak TV who covered the event, one of the main organizers Timoteo Kailedzi thanked his fellow artist for playing a part in the #NdifeAmodzi campaign that aims to help flood victims nationwide. He also urged people to continue donating and supporting the flood victims.

“The situation is especially severe in Nsanje and Chikwawa, worse than the previous floods in the past. I urge members of the public to also render assistance in these trying times.

“As urban musicians, we offer our condolences to the flood victims in the country,” added Timoteo in a statement on Saturday.
