Un incident mondial allait bouleverser la vie paisible du petit village perdu qui bascula soudain dans le chaos. Comme un vieux malade agonisant, la mine expira son dernier souffle. Tout s’immobilisa brusquement. Le concasseur lâcha son ronron final qui n’était plus qu’un long sanglot, laissant derrière lui sous un ciel brumeux l’interminable ennui de la vallée. La mine ne respirait plus, son cœur cessa de battre. D’immenses bâtiments jadis bouillonnants de vie se dressaient vainement dans un silence morbide. Un mythe s’effondra devant les yeux résignés des ouvriers désormais livrés à eux-mêmes, des familles entières qui y vivaient depuis des années se retrouvèrent sans la moindre raison d’y rester, la vie se figea soudain avec l’ultime soupir des machines.
