Depuis 1991, date à laquelle le Niger devient officiellement une démocratie multipartite, la radio publique perd son monopole sur les ondes et les stations libres commencent à foisonner. Dans les rues et les maisons, sur les nattes ou dans les buissons, les postes FM distraient, éduquent, informent : actualités, débats politiques, micros ouverts, recettes de cuisine ou de beauté, campagnes de sensibilisation, conseils conjugaux, musiques traditionnelles ou rap engagé… Il y en a pour toutes les oreilles. Dans un pays où l’illettrisme touche plus de 80 % de la population, la radio est devenue le plus populaire des moyens de communication, et du coup, un formidable outil d’expression et de démocratisation. Des scènes de vie quotidienne autour du poste de radio aux studios des différentes stations en passant par une rencontre des journalistes de terrain, les réalisateurs entrent au coeur de cette « révolution FM », miroir évocateur des évolutions de la société nigérienne.

Die Sender übertragen Geburtsanzeigen, Schönheits- und Gesundheitstipps, nigrische Raps, Eheberatungen, Informationen, Kochrezepte, Themen zur Frauenemanzipation, Werbung usw. Das Radio ist allgegenwärtig, eine tägliche Begleiterin, ein wichtiges Bindeglied, eine Vertraute, mit der man einschläft …
