Nord Niger. Deux scientifiques français appartenant à une ONG environnementale, le CIR, disparaissent alors qu’ils sont en mission dans la région d’Arlit. Deux jours plus tard, leur 4×4 est retrouvé en plein désert, ainsi que leur chauffeur touareg… tué par balles. Prise d’otage sanglante. Les ravisseurs, une bande armée redoutée, annoncent très vite la couleur : ils exigent 3 millions de dollars. Hors de question. Hugo Geoffroy, n°2 de la cellule d’urgence du Quai d’Orsay, et son patron Thomas Villiers, habitués à gérer ce genre de situation, mettent immédiatement en place une collaboration avec Aboubacar, le patron de la sécurité nationale nigérienne, pour négocier une libération des otages, sans condition.

Fred Garson réalise ici son deuxième long métrage. Un thriller politique sans concessions avec Natacha Régnier, Laurent Lucas et Emil Abossolo Mbo, produit par ARTE France et Maha Productions.




« Qui Sème le Vent » flirte avec une actualité brûlante: un kidnapping au Niger, le désert et ses mines d’uranium, l’Elysée et l’Afrique en ébullition. Le sort de deux otages français devient l’un des enjeux de la renégociation des concessions d’uranium entre le Niger et la France. Un film qui interroge la raison d’état.

Northern Niger. Two French scientists working for an environmental NGO disappear during a mission in the region of Arlit. Hugo Geoffroy, second-in-command of a specialist emergency unit of the French police, and Thomas Villiers, his boss, are sent to negotiate for the hostages’ freedom.
The same day in Niamey, however, negotiations get underway between the Nigerian government and Urania, a giant French uranium company, with a view to renewing French mining concessions.
At Urania’s request, researcher Dr Hélène Bauer flies to Nigeria, where she soon realises that Hugo is playing a double game. Now Hugo and Hélène find themselves swept up in a conspiracy orchestrated by the Chinese to sour relations between Nigeria and France, and have to work as a team to try and save the two hostages. But what is the life of two ecology scientists worth when France’s highest interests are at stake ?
