A village in GDR in autumn 1989: with her beloved uncle Mike and two of her friends, Friederike is building a rocket. The cheerful space game is interrupted unexpectedly: Mike had filed for a permission to leave the country and has to leave everything behind within a few hours. The loss breaks Friederike’s heart and she wants to get her uncle back, while she is always watched mistrustfully by the village policeman. Together with her friends she wants to invent a machine that beams her uncle back from the West.
