GhanaLife: A Cultural Reflection

English

What happens when Ghana’s leading Arts & Cultural organisations come together for a unique exhibition? An art lover’s paradise and a true treat for the senses.

Between the 24th – 31st August the public are invited to discover and explore this rich combination of creative craft work, paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and an African contemporary dance performance, all presenting a visual expression of the artists’ response to the exhibition theme, GhanaLife: A Cultural Reflection.

This colourful exhibition promises to fuse Ghana’s established and emerging local artists with the diversity of international artists from the US, UK, Australia and Belgium.

The venue is in itself one of Ghana’s most treasured cultural centres – The National Centre for Culture’s Art Centre Gallery. Tucked away close to the famous hustle and bustle of The Arts Centre Market, the professional Accra Arts Centre Gallery is the perfect space to present a collection of art which reflects and expresses the artists individual relationship with the rich tapestry of Ghanaian culture and domestic life.

The featuring artists include: David Boamah (Ghana), Susan Foss (USA), Osei Wusu Banahene (Ghana), Lauren Cross (USA), Emmanuel C. Tordzro (Ghana/UK), Enock Bortei (Ghana), Baba Mahama (Ghana), Katelyn Jurney (USA), Patrick Lartey (Ghana/Australia), Michael Bortei (Ghana), and Virginie de Gheldere (Belgium).

The Opening Celebration on Monday 24th August from 4:30pm – 6:30pm kick starts the creative workshops and brings you excellent guest speakers (local and international) as well as African contemporary dance performances. During the week of the exhibition, a series of creative workshops will be running and are open to the general public of all ages, (see the choices below).

Whether you are looking for a fantastic day out, something different, interested in participating in the numerous workshops, or searching for that perfect piece to take home, this interactive exhibition is not to be missed. The entrance is completely free for the Opening Celebration and the exhibition and all activities are family friendly. The workshops are affordable and accessible to all.

All funds raised from artwork sales and workshops go directly to the artists with an agreed percentage donation to the Arts Centre and to the children’s education fund program that exists within Cross-Cultural Collaborative (CCC).
