Batakari Nite

English

King Ayisoba, the widely acclaimed "King of Kologo Music" brings Batakari Night to the Alliance Francaise on the eve of his French Tour (Feb.2015). King Ayisoba is currently one of the most popular Ghanaian artists on the World Music Circuit, and his performance at Roskilde Festival (the largest in Europe) was the most oversubscribed show of the Festival.

Batakari Night will feature some of Ghana's leading Kologo players and special guest appearances by Wanlov the Kubolor and Yaa PONO, with whom King Ayisoba has worked extensively.

The evening also features Opoku Mensah & Band, in their first performance at the Alliance Francaise. Having recently headlined a Music Festival in Togo, they bring their explosive rhythms and arrangements, and maybe a special collaboration with King Ayisoba.

Everyone is encouraged to wear Batakari, as it is one of the few wholly locally produced fabrics in use today. Right from the kapock collection, the spinning, weaving and dyeing all create employment and wealth in the North of Ghana, as they stimulate the local industry. King Ayisoba promises Batakari Night to be an evening of great colour, variety and performances.
